- We start with the base, compacting and grading it so the slab sits on solid ground and drains the way it should.
- We size and set the rebar for the actual load, whether that is foot traffic, forklifts, or loaded delivery trucks.
- We form to line and grade and place control joints where the concrete wants to move, so cracking stays where we put it.
- We finish to the spec the job calls for, from a broom finish on a sidewalk to a hard troweled slab inside a building.
- We cure the pour so it gains strength the way it should instead of drying out too fast.
Why base and joints matter here
Along the Wasatch Front the ground moves. Our clay soil swells when it takes on moisture and heaves when it freezes, and our winters run concrete through freeze and thaw cycle after cycle. A commercial slab that skips the base prep or the joints will crack and settle no matter how good the mix is. No crew can promise concrete never cracks, but a compacted base, rebar sized for the load, control joints, and a proper cure keep it tight and control where any cracking goes. Road salt and ice melt take their toll too.
