Concrete Stamped and Decorative in Ogden

A stamped patio or driveway can read like natural stone or brick and still cost a lot less than the real thing. The trick is that the pretty part is only as good as the slab under it. We treat a decorative pour like any other slab first, with a real base, rebar, and control joints, and then we add the color, the pattern, and the sealer. That's how you get a finish that stays sharp through our winters instead of fading and flaking in a few years.

What's included

Stamped and Decorative, done the right way.

  • We build the slab the same way we would any driveway or patio, with a compacted base, rebar, and control joints, because a decorative surface only lasts if the concrete under it is solid.
  • We add color through an integral mix or a broadcast color hardener so the tone runs into the surface instead of just sitting on top of it.
  • We stamp the fresh concrete with patterns that read like stone, slate, brick, or wood plank, and we can work in exposed aggregate or a decorative border and bands.
  • We tool in control joints and finish the edges clean so the slab has a planned place to crack and the pattern stays crisp.
  • We cure the slab and seal it for our freeze and thaw winters and road salt, and we show you how to reseal it down the road so the color holds.

Why the slab under it matters

A stamped finish hides nothing if the base is wrong. Our clay soil swells when it gets wet and heaves when it freezes, and frost here reaches well below grade. If the slab isn't built on a compacted base with rebar and real joints, it moves, and the pattern cracks in ugly random lines. Road salt and ice melt then scale and pit any surface that wasn't sealed. So we build the slab to hold still first, then color, stamp, and seal it to last.

Good to know

Stamped and Decorative questions, answered.

Will stamped concrete crack?
Concrete moves, so we plan for it with a solid base, rebar, and control joints that give the slab a place to crack out of sight. That's the difference between a hairline you never notice and a random crack across your pattern.
How is this cheaper than pavers or real stone?
You get the stone or brick look from one poured and stamped slab instead of hundreds of individual units set by hand. It costs less up front and there are no joints between pieces for weeds to grow through.
Do I have to reseal it?
Yes. Sealer is what protects the color and surface from road salt, ice melt, and freeze and thaw, and it wears over time. Plan on resealing every couple of years, and we'll show you how or come do it.
What can you make it look like?
Patterns can read like stone, slate, brick, or wood plank, and we can add exposed aggregate or a decorative border. We'll bring options and match the color to your home.
