Concrete Repair and Replacement in Ogden

Concrete cracks, lifts, and pits for a reason, and a patch over a bad base just fails again the next winter. We start by reading what actually went wrong, then we tell you straight whether it makes more sense to repair or replace. Sometimes a section needs a full tear out and repour. Sometimes a sound slab just needs grinding or resurfacing. Either way you get the real story and honest numbers, and the estimate is free.

What's included

Repair and Replacement, done the right way.

  • We start by finding the cause, whether that's water pooling, a heaved base, clay soil movement, or salt damage, and we fix that before any new concrete goes down.
  • For full replacement we tear out the failed slab, rebuild and compact the base, set rebar or wire where it belongs, and repour to the right thickness.
  • On cracked or settled slabs we correct the base first, then repair or repour the affected section instead of hiding the problem behind a thin coat.
  • Where a slab has lifted at a joint or edge and become a trip hazard, we grind it down flush and clean so nobody catches a toe on it.
  • For surfaces that are pitted, spalled, or salt scaled but still solid underneath, we resurface so they shed water and look right again.

Why the base decides everything

Most of the concrete we replace here didn't fail from age, it failed from water, frost, and clay soil that swells and heaves through our winters. If the base under a slab is wrong, the new pour will crack and settle the same way the old one did. That's why we rebuild and compact the base, set the slope so water drains away, and pour to a thickness that holds up. Road salt and ice melt do the rest, scaling and pitting anything left unsealed, so we deal with that too.

Common jobs

What people call us for

Here's what usually brings folks to us.

  • A driveway that's cracked, heaved, or breaking apart at the edges
  • One slab sitting higher than the next, a trip hazard at the joint
  • A patio or walkway that's pitted and flaking from road salt
  • Sunken concrete that pools water instead of draining away
  • An old slab that's past patching and needs a full tear out and repour

Good to know

Repair and Replacement questions, answered.

Should I repair or replace my concrete?
It depends on the base and how far the damage goes. If the slab is still sound underneath, a repair or resurface can hold up fine. If the base moved or the concrete is broken through, replacement is the honest answer, and we'll tell you which one you're looking at.
Can you just fill the cracks?
We can, but only when the base is solid and the crack is cosmetic. If the crack came from a heaving or settling base, filling it hides the problem for a season and then it comes right back, so we fix the cause first.
Why does concrete keep failing in our area?
Our winters run water, frost, and road salt through the same slab over and over, and the clay soil here swells and heaves as it takes on moisture. Without the right base and slope, that movement cracks and lifts concrete over time.
Do you fix trip hazards where one slab is higher than the other?
Yes. When a slab has lifted at a joint or edge, we grind it down flush so the surface is even and safe. If the lift came from a base problem, we'll point that out too.
