Concrete Patios and Walkways in Ogden

A good patio or walkway is more than a slab of concrete. It has to sit on a base that won't heave, shed water away from your house, and hold up to freeze and thaw winters year after year. We place and finish patios, walkways, sidewalks, front entries, porches, and pool decks for homes and businesses around Ogden and the Wasatch Front. You pick the look you want, and we handle the prep, the pour, and the finish so it lasts.

What's included

Patios and Walkways, done the right way.

  • We start by excavating and compacting a solid gravel base so the slab has stable ground under it that resists heaving.
  • We set rebar or wire mesh to tie the concrete together and add strength where it carries weight.
  • We cut control joints at the right spacing so the slab cracks where we want it to instead of wandering across the surface.
  • We grade the whole area to drain water away from your foundation rather than letting it pool against the house.
  • You choose the finish, whether that's a broom finish for grip, a smooth troweled surface, or stamped and colored concrete, and we seal it to stand up to road salt and ice melt.

Why base and drainage matter here

Our clay soil swells when it's wet and heaves when it freezes, and frost around here reaches well below grade. A patio poured on loose or poorly drained ground will lift, crack, and settle within a few winters. That's why we take the time to compact the base and grade for drainage, so water moves away instead of freezing under your slab. Sealing helps too, since road salt and ice melt scale and pit concrete that isn't protected. Good prep is what keeps your patio flat and solid.

Good to know

Patios and Walkways questions, answered.

How long before I can use my new patio?
You can usually walk on it within a day or two, but wait about a week before setting heavy furniture on it. Give it a full cure before parking or heavy loads.
Will my patio crack?
All concrete can crack over time, so we control it with a compacted base, rebar, and joints cut at the right spacing. The joints give the slab a place to crack cleanly instead of splitting across the surface.
Which finish is best for a walkway?
A broom finish is the common choice because it gives you grip when it's wet or icy. If you want something more decorative, stamped and colored concrete looks great and we can still keep it slip resistant.
Do I need to seal my patio?
We recommend it in our climate. Sealing helps protect the surface from road salt and ice melt, which scale and pit unsealed concrete over our winters.
